This is a follow-up post to my 10 Great Link Building Techniques where I share some additional ways to build inbound links to your website or blog. I’m going to skip all the intro fluff and get right to it.
- Include links on your YouTube submissions.
- Build tools, widgets, plugins etc that are useful, free and can save people time or help them do something better and faster. Once the word gets out about your tool or toolset, the links will come.
- Put an ad on craigslist
- Create comprehensive lists. For example, top 50 magazine themes for Wordpress, top 100 Firefox extensions, etc.
- Provide a free ebook
- Write great content and if you’re lucky you can be featured on other blogs blog roll.
- Reciprocal links from industry related sites
- Answer questions on Yahoo! Answers and on LinkedIn
- Write “how to” guides (like this guide to link building)
- Do some research and collect and analyze data. People love to see actual stats and if they are well researched and authoritive, people will link to it.
- Review products and services
- Sponser an event, charity or tradeshow
- Breaking news
- Internal linking throughout your site. Be sure to use good anchor text.
- Linking your website and blog with good anchor text links.
- Win awards. The sites that feature the awards will link to your site. Also, other sites that mention the awards could link to your site as well.
- Become a guest author on other blogs and include links back to your website or blog.
- Join groups, chambers, clubs etc. Many of these have their own website now and offer a member section where you can include a link back to your site.
- Create a group on LinkedIn.
- Offer badges, logos or icons.
- Get active on forums and message boards. You can include a link in your profile and often in your signature. No spamming!
- If you’re a designer, offer up some free Wordpress themes.
- Have a contest

I think the list idea is particularly effective. I’ve setup a blog and a lot of it is lists of things related to my website… I think this makes for a good read and is also good link bait…
Good advice, I agree whole heartedly
